Ian Taylor: REGIONAL GOVERNANCE IN AFRICA

Scholars of African Studies have since long discovered that African leaders have adapted the Western concept of the state to their own needs and that they have created something like the typical African state. In this article, Ian Taylor proofs that the same leaders have adapted their international institutions for regional cooperation in a similar matter. By proposing an well-developed typology of regional governance the author takes a closer look at how regional organizations work and behave, and what this means for development and integration goals.
